We have introduced a new live delivery tracking system – a first for the UK foodservice wholesale sector.

The new feature gives customers real-time visibility of their orders from the moment a driver leaves the depot, including live vehicle location, driver details and an updated arrival window when delivery is just minutes away.

For hospitality operators, where timing is critical, the system offers a clearer, more reliable way to plan deliveries without disruption.Rather than waiting in uncertainty, customers can track progress throughout the day and see exactly how close their delivery is.

Two-stage tracking for better planning

The system works in two stages.From dispatch, customers can see how many stops away their driver is, displayed in simple bands such as ‘Under 20 stops away’ and ‘Under 10 stops away’.When the driver is three or fewer stops away, a live map activates, showing the vehicle’s location, estimated arrival time, driver name and vehicle registration.

The continuously updating map shows both the delivery vehicle and the customer location, helping operators prepare without interrupting kitchen workflow.Raising the bar for wholesale

Michael Dudley, Chief Technology Officer at JJ Foodservice, said the launch reflects changing expectations across the sector.

“Our customers are running busy kitchens and operations – they don’t have time to wonder when their delivery is coming or wait by the door all morning.

"By showing clear progress throughout the day and then switching to a live map when the lorry is close, we’ve given them the right information at the right time.

"It’s the same experience people expect when they order a takeaway or weekly shop, and there’s no reason wholesale shouldn’t deliver that too."
